Short Term goals and Long Term Goals

First, the rate did not change for the last a few days. Let's wait Friday's data. Most likely, I think it should help the rate a little bit. Let's wait and see.

The coaches from Hansons sent an email today about the half marathon races during the marathon training. Apparently they do not recommend it. The argued that why you want to race a half marathon when your goal is a marathon. Is not it the Marathon is your long term goal(kind of long), and the half marathon race and other races, the short term goal? And we do not care about too much about the short term goal if we focus on the long term goal.

For last year, I indeed focused only on the marathon training. Though I did not reach the goal, but my pace for 10k and half marathon both improved a lot. I lowered 10k time for about 3 minutes, half marathon time for 1 minute. I think it is going to be hard for me to lower the time for both distance, but I should be able to lower 5 minutes for my marathon time. It is not because I trained hard this year. It was only because I did too bad last time.

And I regretted that I did not listen to coach's advice. She did tell me to follow the pacer for 3:25 for the first 16 to 20 miles.  But I ran ahead of them by a few minutes until I got the cramp. I should take her advice this year.
