Q: Why the lender asked 4506t and still asked us to send the tax returns? (This is a very common question from most borrowers).
A: The lender can get the validation from a third party or IRS. They can request the validation with your permission(from 4506t).
The version they got is a light version. They have all the numbers for the 1040 and all the schedules. But there are no details. It usually has 9 pages for all returns. The lender will check non-zero numbers and will request the full copy of the tax returns or any schedules they would like to see.
Since they could not see the details, they request a copy from the borrower to verify.
