Contra Costa County charges transfer taxes on Interspousal deed (adding or removing spouse) and it’s based on ½ of loan amount. So if you are doing refinance, and if both of the couples on the title, please have both of you on the loan application and the title(at least on the title). I know Provident Funding will drop the spouse who is not on the loan application, then you will have to pay transfer tax to drop and add back later on.
