Stay Competitive

September 15th, 2012 10:27 PM by Eric Fang

I used to run with two groups. One is the
running elite club, and it seems like eveybody else
runs faster than I do. And I also run with a
training group. I like the training group a little
bit more now since there are a few people there
have similar pace as I do. Today and last week
I had a pace of 8:45 Pace for 11 Miles and 10 Miles.
And If I keep this pace, I can run within 2 hours
for the first 1/2 marathon in October.

It's very similar for my mortgage business.
I have a group of friends who are all top
loan originators, we can all learn some
stuff from one another. And at the same
time I am also a mentor for some other loan
agents, which make me feel so good.

This weekend, I sent out an email compaign
to ask those who wants to float with me for the
lower rates. In 2008, I did something similar
(and I would lose 60 appraisals if the rate
did not go lower) and I won lots of the business
then because of my brave initiatives. I think
today's market is similar and we will see the rate
doing a little bit lower.

We will have to take a little bit risk to
gain the busines against the competition.
And sometimes. there might be no risk at all.
